HIGH COUNTRY ADVENTURES has been a leading outdoor adventure company since 1975, when four friends with a shared love for the outdoors decided to create a full-service outdoor store in Atlanta, GA. Bubba Sloan, Gerald Marshall, Denny May, and Ned Buxton founded High Country Adventures to provide outdoor enthusiasts with the gear, knowledge, and expertise they need to explore the great outdoors with confidence.

Forty years later, High Country Adventures is still going strong, managed by two of the original founders, Bubba Sloan and Gerald Marshall. Bubba Sloan can be found at our Buckhead retail store in Atlanta, GA, while Gerald Marshall oversees our outpost in Ocoee, Tennessee, introducing visitors to the best whitewater rafting experiences in the Southeast.

Our knowledgeable staff are passionate about the outdoors and are dedicated to helping customers experience the perfect adventure. Whitewater rafting has been a cornerstone of High Country Adventures since the beginning. We fell in love with the Ocoee River in 1975 when we used it to teach advanced whitewater kayak clinics, and in 1979, we built our rafting outpost on the banks of the Ocoee River at the Hwy 64 Bridge. What started with 6 boats, 6 guides, and 1 bus driver, is now our thriving outpost that hosts close to 20,000 visitors a year.

Our cabins and campground offer a comfortable and convenient place to stay while you explore the great outdoors.
