Key things to keep in mind
You will get wet. Dress accordingly.
We will raft rain or shine.
The minimum age to raft the Ocoee River is 12 years old.
Max weight of 265 lbs per guest. Must be in good physical condition. Strictly enforced.
Previous experience is not required, however, rafting is a physically demanding activity. Participants must be able to paddle, walk on uneven terrain, swim, and be in good physical health.
Our PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices) are fully adjustable but will not expand past a size 56” chest. A PFD must fit appropriately to ensure safety.
Please do not bring your own PFD. We will provide one for you.
The Middle Section of the Ocoee is 5 miles of rafting and you will be with us for approximately 3 hours.
The Combo Trip (Upper and Middle sections) is 10 miles of rafting and you will be with us for approximately 5.5 hours with an energy refuel/lunch break in between the two sections.
The Ocoee River is dam-controlled but Mother Nature can impact our flow of water.
Due to the unpredictable nature of this activity, we cannot allow the following guests to participate; women who are pregnant, those with heart conditions, and anyone with recent surgery.
We will do our best to keep groups together, but due to raft capacity, we may need to split groups up on occasion. We appreciate your understanding.
What to bring
Please leave your valuables at home or be sure to lock them securely in your vehicle. You can safely leave your car keys at check-in and retrieve them after your trip.
You can bring a towel for after the trip but please leave towels, bags, water bottles, and sunscreen in the car.
Sunglasses can be worn on the river but we recommend having a strap so you don't lose them in the mighty rapids.
Hats will typically fit under the helmet.
Any medication that you may need while on the river (Epi-pen, insulin, inhaler, etc).
What to wear
Summer Months
Clothes you don't mind getting wet; shorts, shirts, bathing suits.
Shoes or sandals that you can secure to your feet (old sneakers, river shoes, or sandals with a heel strap). No flip-flops or bare feet.
Bring a dry outfit to change into after rafting because you will get wet.
Spring and Fall
Cotton is not your friend. Any synthetic material will keep you warmer than cotton, even if it is wet. We recommend fleece, wool, or polypropylene.
Shoes or sandals that you can secure to your feet (old sneakers, river shoes, or sandals with a heel strap). No flip-flops or bare feet.
Bring a dry change of clothes, and might want to consider something warm and cozy like a fleece or sweatshirt.
If you are bringing anyone under the age of 18, please print the 'Under 18 Waiver' and have it signed by a parent or guardian if they will not be going on the trip before arriving. Over 18 will have to sign a waiver at the Outpost upon checking in.
